The roller device is fixed between hardened steel springs which are mounted between the sleepers giving flexibility preventing any damage to the AUSTROROLL roller device from impacting and dynamic loading or vibrations.

2. Materials
AUSTROROLL components are produced from heavy duty corrosion resistant copper based alloys and hardened and coated steel. Very suitable for exacting railway operating conditions. They are resistant to wide temperature fluctuations and inclement weather such as rain, frost and snow.

3. AUSTROROLL roller diameter
The large diameter of AUSTROROLL rollers significantly reduces the load required to set the points.
4. Roller
Two roller bearings lubricated for life are fitted inside the AUSTROROLL roller ensuring a low coefficient of friction and consequently a smooth easy rotation of the roller with a long operating life.
5. Seals
The roller bearings are each encased by three seals preventing ingress of water, dirt and other adverse materials.
6. Location
The location of the AUSTROROLL roller device between and not on the sleepers ensures that snow, ice and discharges of coal, iron-ore etc. do not affect its smooth rotating operation.
7. Horizontal power component
On installation the AUSTROROLL springs are pretensioned which produces horizontal power components resulting in switch rails being pressed firmly against the stock rail. The pretensioning also produces an initial lifting of the switch from the slide chair at the beginning of the switch opening.
8. Pre- loading
The pre-loaded springs ensure that the switch rail rolls onto the roller at the beginning of the switching movement avoiding sliding on the slide chair.
9. Operating life
As a result of the high quality materials used in the AUSTROROLL construction it has an anticapted operating life for as long as that of the switch point.
10. Installation
AUSTROROLLs can be installed easily and quickly into new and existing switch points.
