Elmedur® for Die Casting

Due to their low weight, aluminium and magnesium alloys have found uses in many fields of industry. Apart from sheet and extrusion moulded products, they are also used chiefly for die cast products. These products are manufactured in horizontal cold chamber die casting machines in which liquid aluminium is poured into a horizontal arranged filling chamber and pressed into the mould under high pressure by a piston rod and plunger.

Plunger materials made of Thyssen Duro Metall copper alloys offer the advantage of high shot rates, good emergency running properties and preservation of the expensive filling chambers.
